HOW TO RENEW BVIG-SBMI- SBMI MEMBERSHIP
We would like to thank you in advance for your continued support to our Society. Renewing your membership is indeed one of the most important contributions to Belgian internal Medicine that you can make.

BVIG-SBMI strongly encourages members to renew their membership between January and April  in order to enjoy an uninterrupted service regarding the journal subscription.  Back issues of Acta Clinica Belgica (if applicable) will be sent to you via regular mail.

Membership Renewal Timeline:

BVIG-SBMI Membership is valid for the calendar year (January 1 - December 31).
April 15^th, 2010: Memberships that have not been renewed will be de-activated; reinstating the membership remains possible at any time but the standard membership fee will be applied.

The Hellenic Society of Internal Medicine (HSIM) is the proud host of the 10^th EFIM Congress that will take place October 5-8, 2011 in Athens Greece.

Does general internal medicine in Belgium have a future? This question, which was recently raised in an editorial in this journal (1), is pertinent. Medicine is becoming increasingly technical and complex, leading to progressive specialization and even ‘super-specialization’. For instance, a cardiologist may focus on revalidation, transplantation, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, echocardiography, or the like.
